Grove City blanks Waynesburg. 6-0

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Led by a goal and two assists from junior Diane Metzger (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin), the Grove City College women's soccer squad blitzed Waynesburg, 6-0, at College Field Tuesday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.

Metzger scored the first goal of the match in the 16th minute, then assisted on goals from Meg Tilley (Columbia, Md./Hammond) and Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington). Tilley, who assisted Metzger's goal, scored in the 34th minute while Novosel scored 11 minutes later, giving Grove City a 3-0 halftime lead.

Karen Reefer (Butler, Pa./Slippery Rock) opened the second-half scoring with her sixth goal of the season while Denna Steltzer (Geneseo, N.Y./Geneseo) and Chelsea Cline (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) also scored second-half goals. Danielle Balliet (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel), Leah Partridge (Newport, Vt./United Christian) and Kristin Hummel (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) all had assists.

In goal, Katy Turman (Abington, Pa./Abington) and Lindsey Thompson (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) combined for the Lady Wolverines' first shutout this year. Grove City (7-5-1, 4-1 PAC) held a 39-0 edge in shots against Waynesburg (2-10-1, 0-5-1 PAC). The Lady Wolverines have won 20 of their last 21 PAC matches.
