Grove City closes home schedule with 4-1 triumph

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Meg Tilley (Columbia, Md./Hammond) scored twice in a two-minute span while Diane Metzger (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and Jen Bailey (Simsbury, Conn./The Masters School) each added goals as the Grove City women's soccer squad (11-5-2) downed visiting Penn State Behrend (8-11), 4-1, at College Field Thursday afternoon.

Tilley her first goal with 35 seconds remaining in the first half after an assist from Chelsea Cline (Sarver, Pa./Freeport). Then, less than two minutes into the second half, Tilley scored her 21st goal of the season, doubling the lead to 2-0. Sophomore Leah Partridge (Newport, Vt./United Christian) provided the assist.

In the 51st minute, Metzger rocketed the ball into the net for her fifth score of the season while Bailey closed the scoring in the 82nd minute with her third goal of the year. Stacey Brubaker (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) recorded the assist.

Senior goalkeeper Katy Turman (Abington, Pa./Abington) made six saves for her 32nd career victory. Grove City closes the regular season at Waynesburg Saturday before hosting a Presidents' Athletic Conference semifinal game next Thursday afternoon.
