Grove City returning to conference finals

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior Karen Reefer (Butler, Pa./Slippery Rock) recorded a goal and an assist to help second-seeded Grove City past visiting No. 3 Thiel, 4-0, at College Field in the Presidents' Athletic Conference women's soccer tournament semifinals Thursday afternoon.

Reefer assisted on Meg Tilley's (Columbia, Md./Hammond) goal in the ninth minute before doubling the Lady Wolverine lead with a goal in the 39th minute. Sophomore Autumn Hubbard (Nampa, Idaho/Nampa Christian) followed with her second score of the season in the 44th minute, giving Grove City a 3-0 halftime lead.

Freshman Stacey Brubaker (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) posted Grove City's final goal in the 87th minute off an assist from Denna Steltzer (Geneseo, N.Y./Geneseo). Chelsea Cline (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) was also credited with an assist in the victory.

In goal, Katy Turman (Abington, Pa./Abington) and Lindsey Thompson (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) shared the shutout. Grove City (13-5-2) out-shot Thiel, 25-4. The victory is the 99th in program history, which dates back to 1992.

The Lady Wolverines will face top-seeded Westminster in New Wilmington Saturday in the PAC championship. Grove City won the PAC crown in 2000 and 2001.
