Grove City opens season with 1-1 draw
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team opened the 2003 season with a 1-1, double-overtime draw against visiting Thomas More (Ky.) College Friday afternoon at Slippery Rock University.
The Lady Wolverines (0-0-1) led 1-0 at intermission as senior Meg Tilley (Columbia, Md./Hammond) fired in Kate Klingensmith's (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) cross in the 39th minute.
Thomas More tied the match in the 48th minute on an unassisted goal from Cathy Santillo.
In goal, sophomore Lindsay Thompson (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) made two saves in 110 minutes of action. Grove City out-shot Thomas More 16-6.
The Lady Wolverines will face Pitt-Greensburg Saturday at 2 p.m. at Slippery Rock.
The two matches were originally scheduled for Grove City College but were moved to Slippery Rock due to field construction.
