Tilley tallies twice; Lady Wolverines win 100th all-time
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team picked up its 100th all-time victory with a 2-0 shutout of Pitt-Greensburg at Slippery Rock University Saturday afternoon.
Since its inception in 1992, Grove City's women's soccer program owns a record of 100-88-11, including five Presidents' Athletic Conference championships.
Senior forward Meg Tilley (Columbia, Md./Hammond) put Grove City (1-0-1) on top in the seventh minute with her second goal of the season after an assist from junior Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington).
Grove City maintained its 1-0 lead into the 79th minute when Tilley doubled the lead with her second goal of the match, a blast into the right corner. Senior midfielder Diane Metzger (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) recorded the assist, her first of the season.
In goal, sophomore Lindsay Thompson (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) recorded her first career shutout and first win. Grove City out-shot Greensburg 21-5.
The Lady Wolverines will host Carnegie Mellon Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Saturday's match was played at Slippery Rock due to field construction at Grove City College.
