Lady Wolverines rally for win, take over 1st place in PAC

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior forward Meg Tilley (Columbia, Md./Hammond) scored twice, sparking Grove City past Westminster, 2-1, in Presidents' Athletic Conference women's soccer action at College Field Wednesday afternoon. It is Grove City's fifth straight victory.

Grove City (6-3-1, 3-0 PAC) fell behind 1-0 less than five minutes into the match as Westminster's Sarah Calderone scored from close range. The Lady Wolverines forged a 1-1 tie 35 minutes into the first half as Tilley scored the first of her two goals off an assist from Diane Metzger (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin).

Tilley then put Grove City ahead at the 73:09 mark with an unassisted goal that she placed in the upper right corner, her team-best ninth goal of the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsay Thompson (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) stopped two shots to pick up her sixth career win. Grove City out-shot Westminster (8-4, 3-1 PAC), 14-6.

The Lady Wolverines now own a half-game lead over Westminster for first place in the conference. Grove City continues PAC play Saturday at Waynesburg.

The victory snapped Westminster's three-match unbeaten streak against Grove City. Westminster won the PAC title in 2002 while Grove City earned league crowns in 2000 and 2001.
