Grove City blanks Waynesburg for 6th straight win

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team won its sixth straight match Saturday, rolling past Presidents Athletic Conference rival Waynesburg 6-0.

Grove City broke the match open with four goals in a seven-minute span during the second half. Junior forward Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) scored a pair of unassisted goals during the stretch. Her first goal, which came at the 50:07 mark, gave Grove City a 3-0 lead. Novosel's second goal of the day, at 56:35, boosted the lead to 5-0.

Between Novosel's goals, senior forward Meg Tilley (Columbia, Md./Hammond) scored off an assist from classmate Heather Peters (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) at 54:05.

Senior Susannah Cafardi (Waterford, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) capped the scoring at 57:10 via a Tilley assist. A four-year starter at center back, the goal is the first of Cafardi's collegiate career. 

Grove City (7-3-1, 4-0 PAC) jumped on top in the 14th minute as junior Leah Partridge (Newport, Vt./United Christian) scored her second goal of the season. Novosel supplied the assist. Six minutes later, sophomore Kristin Hummel (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) scored an unassisted goal, her first of the season.

The Lady Wolverines out-shot Waynesburg 34-2. Grove City visits Penn State Behrend Monday at 4 p.m.
