Grove City blanks Bethany in regular season finale

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- A pair of second-half goals vaulted Grove City (15-3-1, 10-0 PAC) to a 2-0 victory over visiting Bethany Saturday in Presidents' Athletic Conference women's soccer action, extending Grove City's win streak to a school-record 14 matches.

Senior Meg Tilley (Columbia, Md./Columbia) broke the scoreless tie in the 59th minute with her 67th career goal, following an assist from sophomore Kate Klingensmith (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland).

Tilley then assisted on a goal by junior Leah Partridge (Newport, Vt./United Christian) with 50 seconds left in the match. It is Partridge's fourth score of the year.

Sophomore Lindsay Thompson (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) stopped one shot to earn her sixth shutout of the season. The Lady Wolverines out-shot Bethany 30-3.

Prior to the match, Grove City honored seniors Danielle Balliet (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel), Susannah Cafardi (Waterford, Pa./Villa Maria Academy), Diane Metzger (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin), Heather Peters (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour), Jessica Smith (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and Tilley as part of Senior Day festivities.

Grove City will host a PAC Championship Tournament semifinal Wednesday afternoon.
