Grove City thumps Waynesburg
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Six different Grove City players scored goals as the Grove City College women's soccer team rolled to a 6-0 victory over Waynesburg (4-6, 1-2 PAC) Monday afternoon at College Field in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
Junior Kristin Hummel (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) put Grove City (6-6-1, 2-1 PAC) up in the 25th minute with her second goal of the season, an unassisted score. Sophomore Laura Blosser (Hockessin, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) doubled the lead 12 minutes later with her first collegiate goal. Freshman Alix Flowers (Lynchburg, Va./New Covenant) supplied the assist.
The lead grew to 3-0 in the 50th minute as junior Stacey Brubaker (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) scored her team-high ninth goal of the season after a Wolverine corner kick. Freshman Bethany Peck (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air) scored Grove City's fourth goal at 59:10 with sophomore Maia Siber (Canton, Ohio/Canton McKinley) providing the assist.
Junior Katie Klingensmith (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) assisted sophomore Lindsay Bowman (Delaware, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) on Grove City's fifth goal at 77:01 while senior Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) closed the match's scoring eight minutes later after a pass from classmate Autumn Hubbard (Nampa, Idaho/Nampa Christian).
Grove City out-shot the Yellow Jackets 40-1. Sophomore goalkeeper Kori Koper (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) earned the win for Grove City.
The Wolverines return to action Thursday at home against conference rival Bethany at 4 p.m.
