Grove City earns fourth straight shutout
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team improved to 9-6-1 overall and 5-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference by claiming a 2-0 victory over Washington and Jefferson Friday afternoon at College Field.
Grove City has won four straight matches, all by shutout.
The Wolverines broke a scoreless tie in the 13th minute as junior Katie Klingensmith scored after an assist from freshman Bethany Peck (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air). It is Klingensmith's fourth goal of the season.
Grove City doubled its lead in the 63rd minute as Klingensmith assisted senior forward Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington), who scored her seventh goal of the season.
In goal, sophomore Kori Koper (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) stopped four saves for her fourth straight shutout and seventh overall this season. Grove City outshot Washington and Jefferson 15-12.
The Wolverines return to action Tuesday against visiting Westminster at 4 p.m.
