Six straight shutouts for Grove City

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team extended its win streak to six Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 victory at Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Waynesburg. It is Grove City's sixth straight shutout and ninth shutout overall this season.

Grove City (11-6-1, 7-1 PAC) broke through late in the first half as senior forward Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) scored an unassisted goal in the 44th minute, giving Grove City a 1-0 halftime lead.

Grove City maintained that lead until the 89th minute when sophomore forward Lindsay Bowman (Delaware, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) scored after an assist from freshman Bethany Smith (Fairport, N.Y./Homeschooled).

In goal, sophomore Kori Koper (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) earned her 11th win of the season by making one save. Grove City held a 27-3 edge in shots.

Grove City visits Bethany Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in PAC action. The Wolverines can clinch home-field advantage throughout the PAC Tournament Nov. 1-6 by winning their final two matches -- at Bethany Tuesday and at home against Thiel Oct. 30.
