Ten players score in rout of Bethany

BETHANY, W. Va. -- Ten different Grove City players scored a goal Tuesday as the visiting Wolverines picked up a 10-1 victory at Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference women's soccer action.

Grove City (12-6-1, 8-1-0 PAC) jumped out to a 6-0 lead by halftime before extending the lead in the second half. Junior forward Stacey Brubaker (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) opened the scoring just 20 seconds into the match with her 13th goal of the season.

Sophomore Maia Siber (Canton, Ohio/Canton McKinley) doubled the lead in the 21st minute after she scored off a corner kick. Junior Kristin Hummel (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) scored Grove City's third goal in the 26th minute after an assist from freshman Bethany Peck (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air).

Brubaker assisted on a goal by junior Katie Klingensmith (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) in the 30th minute while freshman Bethany Smith (Fairport, N.Y./Homeschooled) at 34:47 pushed the lead to 5-0. Sophomore Lindsay Bowman (Delaware, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) assisted on Smith's goal.

Senior Autumn Hubbard (Nampa, Idaho/Nampa Christian) closed the first-half scoring with a goal in the 41st minute off a corner kick. In the second half, senior Leah Partridge (Newport, Vt./United Christian) scored in the 62nd minute after an assist from Siber, giving Grove City a 7-0 lead.

Freshman Alix Flowers (Lynchburg, Va./New Covenant) scored at 68:10 with senior Becky Iden (Morristown, N.J./Parsippany Christian) supplying the assist. Iden scored an unassisted goal seven minutes later while freshman Rebekah Johnson (Richmond, Va./Banner Christian) closed Grove City's scoring with an unassisted goal at 84:37.

Bethany's Pennie Thomas broke up the shutout with a goal at 85:47. In goal, sophomore Kori Koper (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) earned the victory by playing the first half. Brubaker played the second half in goal. Grove City out-shot Bethany (2-15, 1-8-0 PAC), 35-3.

The Wolverines can clinch the top seed throughout next week's PAC Tournament with a win over Thiel Saturday at College Field. It is Senior Day for Hubbard, Iden, Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) and Partridge as well as the regular-season finale.
