Klingensmith sets record as Grove City wins 8th straight

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College junior midfielder Katie Klingensmith (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) set a new College women's soccer single-match record Saturday morning with five assists as the Wolverines wrapped up the 2004 regular season with a 6-0 win over Thiel in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at College Field on Senior Day.

The victory gives Grove City (13-6-1, 9-1-0 PAC) the top seed in next week's PAC Championship Tournament. It is Grove City's eighth straight victory.

Grove City stormed out to a 2-0 lead just eight minutes into the match as senior Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington) scored twice. Novosel scored at 5:25 on a corner kick with Klingensmith earning the assist. At the 8:00 mark, Novosel scored her 10th goal of the season after a pass from junior Stacey Brubaker (Houston, Pa./Houston).

The Wolverines extended the lead to 3-0 in the 29th minute as Klingensmith assisted senior Autumn Hubbard (Nampa, Idaho/Nampa Christian). Sophomore Laura Blosser (Hockessin, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) capped the first-half scoring with a goal at 32:34. Klingensmith provided the assist.
