Westminster wins PAC title on penalty kicks

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Second-seeded Westminster used a 4-3 edge in penalty kicks Saturday afternoon to earn the Presidents' Athletic Conference women's soccer title after playing top-seeded Grove City to a 1-1, double-overtime draw in the PAC Tournament final at College Field.

Officially, the match counts as a draw for both teams. However, the Lady Titans are crowned conference champion by winning the shootout.

Westminster took a 1-0 lead at 17:15 in the first half on a goal from Olivia Wilkerson. Grove City (14-6-2) tied the match at 38:49 as junior forward Stacey Brubaker (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) scored after an assist from senior forward Michelle Novosel (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington).

Neither team scored in the second half or in either of the two 10-minute overtime periods.

Grove City out-shot Westminster, 14-9. Sophomore goalkeeper Kori Koper (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) stopped one shot for the Wolverines.
