Wolverines top Thomas More in PAC opener
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team earned a 2-1 win over visiting Thomas More (3-1, 0-1 PAC) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at College Field Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Bethany Peck (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air) and senior Stacey Brubaker (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) each scored goals while freshman Laura Shipley (Austin, Texas/St. Michael's) assisted on both goals.
Peck put Grove City ahead 1-0 with a goal at the 35:26 mark. Thomas More tied the match on Becky Rutherford's goal at 50:00 but Brubaker scored the eventual game-winner nine minutes later.
Grove City (1-3, 1-0 PAC) owned a 13-8 edge in shots. Freshman goalkeeper Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) earned her first collegiate win by stopping two shots.
The Wolverines will host John Carroll next Saturday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m.
