Purple Raiders nip Wolverines, 2-1
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Visiting Mount Union earned a 2-1 victory over Grove City in non-conference women's soccer action at College Field Wednesday afternoon.
Mount Union (3-4) broke a scoreless tie in the 77th minute as Cortney Frederick scored an unassisted goal. Eight minutes later, Kelly Croysdale scored the eventual game-winner, extending the lead to 2-0.
Grove City junior Maia Siber (Canton, Ohio/Canton McKinley) cut the lead in half with her first goal of the season at the 86:30 mark but the Wolverines (1-5) could not score the equalizer.
Mount Union out-shot Grove City, 15-11. In goal, freshman goalkeeper Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) stopped six shots.
Grove City will return to action Saturday afternoon at Allegheny. The non-conference match begins at 4 p.m.
