Bethany nips Grove City, 2-1

BETHANY, W. Va. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team fell to 2-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Wednesday with a 2-1 loss to host Bethany at Hoag Field.

The Wolverines (2-8 overall) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in at the 12:10 mark as freshman Laura Shipley (Austin, Texas/St. Michael's) scored off a free kick. It is Shipley's third goal of the season.

However, the Bison (3-5-1, 2-1-1 PAC) scored twice before halftime. Pennie Thomas tied the match 1-1 with a goal at 31:44. The Bison then pulled ahead at the 42:09 mark on Caelyn DiSanti's fourth goal of the season. Thomas supplied the assist.

Grove City owned a 23-8 edge in shots. In goal, freshman goalkeeper Bethany Preston (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) stopped one shot.

The defeat snaps Grove City's 11-match win streak against Bethany. Grove City will host Thiel Thursday at 4 p.m. in PAC action.
