Grove City tops Bison, 5-1

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior midfielder Katie Klingensmith (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) scored twice and assisted on three other goals Thursday afternoon as the Grove City College women's soccer team earned a 5-1 win over Bethany in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at College Field.

Grove City (5-9-1, 5-3-1 PAC) jumped to out a 3-0 lead in the first half. Senior forward Stacey Brubaker (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) scored the first of her two goals at the 14:39 mark. Klingensmith supplied the assist.

Ten minutes later, Klingensmith scored on a rebound directly in front of the goal. Brubaker and fellow senior Kristin Hummel (Greensboro, Ala./Cherry Hill East, N.J.) assisted on the score. Grove City extended its lead to 3-0 at 39:56 as Klingensmith scored her second goal. Freshman midfielder Katie Wolff (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) assisted Klingensmith.

An "own goal" by Grove City in the 44th minute cut the Wolverines' lead to 3-1 at the intermission. However, Grove City sealed the win with a pair of second-half goals. Brubaker scored her sixth goal of the season at 63:48 while junior midfielder Maia Siber (Canton, Ohio/Canton McKinley) tallied her fourth goal of 2005 at the 67:45 mark. Klingensmith assisted on both second-half goals.
