Grove City blanks Thiel
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team improved to 6-3-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tuesday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Thiel at rainy Alumni Stadium.
Grove City (6-9-2 overall) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. Junior Maia Siber (Canton, Ohio/Canton McKinley) opened the scoring at 9:24 with her fifth goal of the season. Senior Stacey Brubaker (Houston, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) provided the assist off a corner kick.
Senior Katie Klingensmith (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) doubled the lead with her team-leading seventh goal of the season at the 18:04 mark. Brubaker supplied the assist.
Freshman Anne Koller (Titusville, Pa./Homeschooled) capped the scoring at the 55:18 with a penalty kick goal. It is her second goal of the season and Grove City's first penalty kick goal of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Bethany Preston (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) earned the shutout win by stopping two shots. Grove City out-shot the Tomcats, 24-2.
Grove City will visit Penn State Behrend Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.
