Presidents top Grove City
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team closed the 2005 regular season Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 loss to visiting Washington and Jefferson in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at College Field.
Washington and Jefferson (10-8-1, 8-3-1 PAC) took a 1-0 lead at 10:50 on a goal by Rachel Campbell. The Presidents doubled their lead at 75:00 on a Jen Pergola goal. The Presidents out-shot Grove City, 23-13. Freshman goalkeeper Bethany Preston (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) stopped 13 shots in goal for the Wolverines.
The Wolverines (6-11-2, 6-4-2 PAC) will be the fourth seed in next week's PAC Championship Tournament. Grove City will play at top-seeded Westminster Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. Washington and Jefferson earned the tournament's second seed with the win and will host Thomas More Tuesday in the other PAC semifinal.
