Wolverines nip Maryville, 1-0
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team improved to 2-0 Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over Maryville (Tenn.) at rain-soaked College Field. It is Grove City's first 2-0 start since 2002.
Sophomore Stephanie Wild (Carmel, Ind./Heritage Christian) gave Grove City a 1-0 lead at 29:28 with her first collegiate goal. The goal was unassisted.
In goal, sophomore Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) stopped eight shots to record the shutout victory. Maryville out-shot Grove City, 18-5, including a 12-1 shot margin in the second half. Maryville (0-2) went 15-4-1 last year and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
Grove City will host Waynesburg Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
