Wolverines earn OT win at La Roche

PITTSBURGH -- Sophomore Stephanie Wild (Carmel, Ind./Heritage Christian) headed in a free kick at 95:00 Saturday afternoon, vaulting the Grove City College women's soccer team to a 3-2 overtime win at La Roche in non-conference action.

Freshman Elise Bender (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) earned the assist after directing the free kick toward the goal. Wild then converted the pass into her team-leading sixth goal of the year.

Grove City (5-2 overall) fell behind 1-0 early but Bender tied the match at 39:00 with her first collegiate goal. Senior midfielder Maia Siber (Canton, Ohio/Canton McKinley) assisted Bender.

La Roche grabbed a 2-1 lead at 80:35 but the Wolverines countered quickly as Wild scored an unassisted goal at 81:07. Wild then scored the game-winner midway through the first overtime.

Sophomore goalkeeper Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) posted eight saves for the Wolverines. La Roche out-shot Grove City, 14-11.

Grove City is off to its best start since 2000, when the Wolverines opened the season 6-2. Grove City will visit Muskingum next Saturday afternoon in non-conference play.
