Wolverines forge 2-2 tie at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team rallied for a 2-2, double-overtime draw at Washington and Jefferson Thursday afternoon in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at Alexandre Stadium. The Wolverines are now 8-5-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the PAC.

Grove City fell behind 2-0 early in the second half but rallied to send the match into overtime. Junior Bethany Peck (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air) cut the Presidents' lead in half with an unassisted goal at 46:39. It is Peck's fourth goal of the season.

Grove City then tied the match at the 67:56 mark as freshman Elise Bender (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) scored off a corner kick. It is Bender's second goal of the year.

W&J led 1-0 at the half as Lauren Smith scored at 27:05. The Presidents doubled their lead at the 46:11 mark as Marie Majkut scored off a corner kick. However, Peck scored 28 seconds later to ignite Grove City's comeback.

Moments after Peck's goal, a thunderstorm delayed the match for 42 minutes.
