Grove City now 4-0
PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Freshman forward Emily Ostlund (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) scored a pair of goals while junior Stephanie Wild (Carmel, Ind./Heritage Christian) added a goal and an assist Saturday afternoon as the Grove City College women's soccer team earned a 3-0 victory over host Lake Erie in non-conference action.
Wild scored an unassisted goal at 4:01, giving Grove City a 1-0 lead. The Wolverines then stretched the lead to 2-0 at 33:47 as Ostlund scored on a corner kick.
Grove City added an insurance goal in the second half as Wild assisted an Ostlund goal at 59:02. Wild currently leads the squad with four goals and two assists this year while Ostlund has three goals in four matches.
Junior goalkeeper Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) stopped four shots in securing Grove City's second straight shutout. Grove City out-shot the Storm, 15-9. The Wolverines also had 14 corner kicks.
Grove City is 4-0 for the first time since 2000. The Wolverines will visit regional power Allegheny Wednesday at 4 p.m. in non-conference action.
