Grove City moves to 6-0-1 with shutout win

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team improved to 6-0-1 Tuesday afternoon with a 1-0 home victory over Mount Union in non-conference action at College Field. The 6-0-1 start is the best in the 16-year history of the program.

Freshman Emily Ostlund (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) broke a scoreless tie at the 14:55 mark with her fifth goal of the season. Junior Stephanie Wild (Carmel, Ind./Heritage Christian) assisted Ostlund. Grove City owned a 33-15 edge in total shots.

In goal, Grove City junior Bethany Preston (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) stopped 11 shots in recording her second shutout of the season. She is now 2-0-1 this year and owns a 0.27 goals-against average. Kaitlyn Mallernee recorded 20 saves for Mount Union (2-5).

Grove City will visit Penn State Behrend Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. in non-conference action.
