Wolverines still unbeaten

ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team continued the start in program history Thursday afternoon by pulling out a 2-1 victory over host Penn State Behrend in non-conference action. Grove City is now 7-0-1 overall.

Sophomore Michelle Peck (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air) broke a 1-1 tie at 75:43 with her second goal of the 2007 season. Peck scored from the top of the box after an assist from junior Stephanie Wild (Carmel, Ind./Heritage Christian). Wild now leads the team with four assists.

After a scoreless first half, Grove City took a 1-0 lead at 49:09 on an unassisted goal from freshman Emily Ostlund (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins). Ostlund now leads the team with six goals this season. Penn State Behrend (1-5-2) tied the match at 61:48 on a goal by Jaclyn Stottlemyer.

Junior goalkeeper Bethany Preston (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) earned her third straight win in goal for Grove City. Preston stopped 10 shots. Penn State Behrend owned a 24-10 edge in total shots.

Grove City will host Baldwin-Wallace next Wednesday in non-conference action at 4:30 p.m.
