Wolverines stay unbeaten

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team improved to 11-0-1 overall Friday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over visiting Saint Vincent at College Field in a matchup of Presidents' Athletic Conference members. It is Grove City's fourth straight shutout.

Grove City freshman Emily Ostlund (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) scored twice in the first 7:31 to give Grove City a quick 2-0 lead. Ostlund's first goal came on a penalty kick just 39 seconds into the match. She then scored an unassisted goal off a rebound at the 7:31 mark. Ostlund has a team-leading nine goals this season.

The Wolverines extended the lead to 3-0 at 39:32 as sophomore Jess Andrew (Bow, N.H./Bow) scored an unassisted goal. It is Andrew's fourth goal of 2007.

Junior goalkeeper Bethany Preston (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) stopped nine shots to preserve the shutout. She is now 7-0-1 this season and owns an 0.23 goals-against average. Grove City owned a 20-16 edge in shots and a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Saint Vincent is playing a full PAC schedule this year but is not eligible for the conference title due to Saint Vincent's provisional status in NCAA Division III. Games played against Saint Vincent do not count in the conference standings.

Grove City will play its annual Alumni Match Saturday at 8:45 a.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend. The Wolverines return to intercollegiate action Wednesday, October 10 at Thomas More.
