Wolverines earn 12th win

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team improved to 12-1-1 overall and 3-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon with a 10-3 victory at Chatham in a PAC match.

Junior Stephanie Wild (Carmel, Ind./Heritage Christian) and freshman Emily Ostlund (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) both posted hat tricks for Grove City while sophomore Lauren Woodring (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) added two goals and an assist for the Wolverines.

Ostlund put Grove City up 1-0 with an unassisted goal at 4:35 while Woodring doubled the lead at 15:20 with an unassisted goal. Grove City's lead grew to 3-0 at 23:12 as Woodring assisted Wild's first goal of the match. Junior Anne Koller (Titusville, Pa./Homeschooled) then scored her second goal of the season 41 seconds later, pushing the lead to 4-0.

Chatham's Chrissy Fiori scored the first of her three goals at 24:27 but Grove City countered quickly as Ostlund registered her second goal of the day at the 26:43 mark. Junior Trish Griffith (Meadville, Pa./Saegertown) assisted the goal. Fiori trimmed the lead to 5-2 at 42:55.

In the second half, Wild and Fiori both scored unassisted goals in the first 6:44 of the period. Grove City then sealed the win with four goals in a nine-minute span. Ostlund completed her hat trick at 64:52 as sophomore Elise Bender (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) supplied the assist. Woodring scored an unassisted goal at 67:36 and seven seconds later, Wild tallied her third goal of the afternoon. Sophomore Michelle Peck (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air) assisted Wild's goal.

Junior Esther Harclerode (Cortez, Colo./Montezuma-Cortez) capped the scoring at 73:51 with her second goal of the season.

Grove City owned a 28-11 edge in total shots. Each team had three corner kicks. In goal, junior Bethany Preston (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) improved to 8-1-1 by making two saves in 49 minutes, 50 seconds of action. Junior Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) played the final 40:10 in goal and stopped one shot.

Grove City will host Washington & Jefferson Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. in PAC action at College Field.
