Westminster tops Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team wrapped up the home portion of the 2007 season Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 setback against archrival Westminster in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at College Field. Grove City is now 13-2-1 overall and 4-2 in the PAC.

Following a scoreless first half, Westminster (12-3-2, 5-0) scored twice in a two-minute span in the second half. Kristen Martin scored at 59:34, giving the Titans a 1-0 lead. Then, junior Christina Adams scored at 61:19, doubling Westminster's lead.

Junior goalkeeper Bethany Preston (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) recorded six saves for Grove City. Westminster out-shot Grove City, 16-11, including a 10-4 edge in the second half.

Grove City returns to action Wednesday evening at Geneva. The match begins at 5 p.m. in Beaver Falls.
