Wolverines earn 15th win of 2007

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team wrapped up the 2007 regular season Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over host Thiel in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at Alumni Stadium. Grove City is now 15-2-1 overall and 5-2 in the PAC.

Freshman forward Emily Ostlund (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) scored twice in the first half for the Wolverines while sophomore Michelle Peck (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air) added an insurance goal in the second half.

Ostlund scored off a corner kick at 7:26, breaking a scoreless tie. She then scored her 15th goal of the season at 31:22. Sophomore Lauren Woodring (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) assisted Ostlund's second goal.

Grove City closed the scoring in the second half as Peck scored at 63:28. Junior Sara Griffin (Marilla, N.Y./Nardin Academy) assisted Peck's goal.

The Wolverines owned a 19-1 edge in shots. Junior goalkeepers Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) and Bethany Preston (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) each played one half in goal. Pragel played the first half and earned her sixth win of the season.

Grove City will visit Westminster in a PAC Championship Tournament semifinal Tuesday afternoon. Grove City is the No. 3 seed while Westminster (6-1 PAC) is the second seed. The winner will advance to Saturday's championship match.
