Westminster nips Grove City in PAC semifinal, 2-1

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Host Westminster pulled out a 2-1 victory over third-seeded Grove City (15-3-1) Tuesday afternoon in a Presidents' Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament semifinal match. Westminster, the No. 2 seed, advances to Saturday's championship match. The Titans will host fourth-seeded Washington & Jefferson Saturday in the PAC title match.

Grove City fell behind 2-0 in the second half but cut the lead in half at 70:11 on an unassisted goal by junior forward Stephanie Wild (Carmel, Ind./Heritage Christian). However, the Wolverines could not score the equalizer.

Westminster (14-4-2) took a 1-0 lead just 40 seconds into the match on a goal by Sarah Nee. The lead grew to 2-0 at 61:13 as Christina Adams scored. Mallory Bugel assisted both goals.

For Grove City, junior goalkeeper Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) stopped four shots. Westminster owned a 17-8 edge in total shots. Both teams had four corner kicks.

Grove City will now await a possible invitation to next week's Eastern College Athletic Conference Southern Championship Tournament.
