Shipley penalty kick gives Grove City draw at B-W

BEREA, Ohio -- Senior midfielder Laura Shipley (Austin, Texas/St. Michael's) scored on a penalty kick with just 27 seconds left in regulation, helping the Grove City College women's soccer team pull out a 1-1 double-overtime draw at Baldwin-Wallace Tuesday night in non-conference action at George Finnie Stadium. It is the second straight tie for Grove City, which is now 3-3-2 overall.

Baldwin-Wallace (3-2-2) broke a scoreless tie at 74:02 as Brittany Thomas scored off a corner kick. Shipley tied the match with her second penalty kick goal of the season after B-W committed a foul inside the box.

B-W owned a 17-14 edge in shots for the match. Senior goalkeeper Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) stopped six shots for Grove City. Becky Miner made seven saves in goal for Baldwin-Wallace.

Shipley also scored on a penalty kick against Allegheny September 10 in Grove City's 1-0 triumph over the Gators. Last Saturday, Grove City tied John Carroll, 1-1. It is the first time in the 17-year history of the program that Grove City has tied consecutive matches.
