CMU nips Grove City, 1-0
PITTSBURGH -- Carnegie Mellon's Abigail Coffin headed in her sixth goal of the season at 60:52 to help give the host Tartans a 1-0 victory over visiting Grove City Wednesday night in non-conference women's soccer action at Gesling Stadium.
Grove City (3-5-2) limited CMU (5-2-2) to just two first-half shots. However, the Tartans out-shot Grove City, 10-1, in the second half. Coffin's goal came after a cross from Emily Overstreet.
For Grove City, senior goalkeeper Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) stopped two shots. CMU had a 12-2 edge in shots, along with a 7-1 corner kick advantage. It is Grove City's second consecutive 1-0 defeat.
Grove City will open Presidents' Athletic Conference play Saturday at noon against visiting Thiel.
