Grove City blanks Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team posted its fourth straight shutout Friday night as the Wolverines earned a 1-0 win over host Waynesburg in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at Jack Wiley Stadium. The Wolverines, winners of four straight, is now 7-5-2 overall and 3-0 in the PAC.

Grove City scored the lone goal of the match just 53 seconds in as sophomore midfielder Emily Ostlund (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) scored her sixth goal of the season. Junior Elise Bender (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) assisted Ostlund's goal.

In goal, senior Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) stopped eight shots to earn Grove City's fifth shutout of the season. Grove City has not allowed a goal in 389 minutes, 8 seconds of game action, dating back to an October 1 match at Carnegie Mellon.

Overall, Grove City has yielded just six goals in its last 10 matches.

Grove City out-shot Waynesburg (6-5-1, 1-1 PAC), 17-13. The Wolverines also had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. Grove City has now won four consecutive matches.

The Wolverines will visit Saint Vincent next Wednesday, October 15 at 4 p.m.
