Wolverines blank Chatham, 6-0

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior forward Stephanie Wild (Carmel, Ind./Heritage Christian) scored a pair of first-half goals and assisted on a third score to help lift the Grove City College women's soccer team to a 6-0 home win over Chatham in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at College Field Thursday afternoon.

Grove City (9-6-2, 4-1 PAC) took command of the match by scoring three goals in a two-minute span during the first half. The Wolverines broke through at 14:50 as Wild directed a cross from the left side to junior Michelle Peck (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air), who recorded her sixth goal of the season. It is Peck's second game-winning goal of 2008.

Wild doubled Grove City's lead at 15:07 with her first goal of the afternoon. Senior Kristin Colley (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford) assisted Wild's goal. Wild then followed up with an unassisted score at the 16:44 mark.

The Wolverines pushed the lead to 4-0 at 24:17 as senior Anne Koller (Titusville, Pa./Titusville) tallied an unassisted goal, her second score of the season. Freshman Emily Hurley (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) added an unassisted goal at 29:46. It is Hurley's fourth goal of 2008.

Freshman Morgan Osterhouse (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) closed the scoring with her second goal of the season at 35:25. Junior Hannah Yang (Davis, Calif./Davis) supplied the assist.

Senior goalkeeper Diana Pragel (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) stopped two shots in the first half to earn the win. Freshman Nikki Spina (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) preserved the shutout with two saves in the second half. It is Grove City's sixth shutout in the last seven matches. Grove City has allowed just seven total goals in its last 13 matches.

Grove City out-shot Chatham (0-13-1, 0-4-1 PAC), 38-4, including a 24-1 edge in the first half. Grove City also owned an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Wolverines will visit PAC rival Washington & Jefferson Saturday at 11 a.m. The start time of that match has been moved from 3 p.m. to 11 a.m.
