Wolverines fall at JCU

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's soccer team fell to 1-1-1 overall Friday afternoon with a 5-0 setback against host John Carroll in the opening match of the John Carroll Classic at Don Shula Stadium.

Grove City owned a 19-14 edge in shots, along with an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. However, John Carroll broke the scoreless tie with five second-half goals.

Caitlin Walton scored at 47:41 while Elizabeth Daigler scored at 52:24 for the Blue Streaks (1-2-1). John Carroll also received goals from Betsy Haigh, Kristen Profeta and Meghan O'Keefe.

For Grove City, senior goalkeeper Bethany Preston (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) made five saves. John Carroll goalkeeper Molly Gradkowski stopped 10 Grove City shots.

The Wolverines will face Olivet Saturday at 12 p.m. in the second day of action at John Carroll.
