Wolverines fall in OT
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team fell to 2-4-3 overall Tuesday afternoon with a 3-2 overtime setback against visiting Carnegie Mellon (4-4) in non-conference action at College Field.
Carnegie Mellon snapped the 2-2 tie in overtime at 93:47 as Elsa Wu scored her third goal of the match.
Grove City jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 29:27 as senior Michelle Peck (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air) scored off an assist from senior Elise Bender (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac).
However, CMU tied the match at 60:03 on a Wu goal. Wu then gave the Tartans a 2-1 lead at 80:35 with an unassisted goal that deflected off a Grove City defender into the goal.
Peck tied the match at 83:48 with her second goal of the match and team-best fourth of the season. Senior Hannah Yang (Davis, Calif./Davis) assisted the goal.
Carnegie Mellon out-shot Grove City 21-8 and also owned an 8-0 edge in corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper Keri Ketcham (Fredonia, N.Y./Fredonia) made six saves for Grove City.
Grove City will visit Penn State Altoona Thursday at 6 p.m. in non-conference action.
