Grove City tops Geneva
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team won its second straight match Saturday afternoon as the Wolverines pulled out a 1-0 win over host Geneva at Reeves Field.
Grove City (4-5-3) broke through at the 21:03 mark as senior Michelle Peck (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air) scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season. Freshman Grace Rieman (Arlington, Va./Homeschooled) assisted Peck's goal. It is Rieman's third assist of the season.
In goal, freshman Keri Ketcham (Fredonia, N.Y./Fredonia) earned her first career shutout by making five saves for Grove City. It is the Wolverines' third shutout of 2009.
Grove City owned a 28-10 edge in shots, including a 16-4 advantage in the second half. The Wolverines also had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
Saturday's match does not count in the Presidents' Athletic Conference standings due to Geneva's provisional status in NCAA Division III.
Grove City will visit PAC foe Bethany Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
