Case nips Grove City, 2-1

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's soccer team dropped to 2-2 overall Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 setback against Case Western Reserve (3-1-1) in non-conference action at John Carroll University's Don Shula Stadium.

Grove City trailed 2-0 entering the second half but the Wolverines halved the lead at the 59:54 mark on a goal from senior defender Hannah Yang (Davis, Calif./Davis). Freshman Michelle Stevens (Phoenixville, Pa./Great Valley) assisted Yang's goal.

Case Western took a 1-0 lead at the 8:49 mark on a goal by Rebecca Vaughan. Frances Hogan then scored at 36:12 to double the lead.

Grove City owned a 13-10 edge in shots, along with a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. In goal, freshman Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word) stopped five shots for the Wolverines.

Grove City will host Allegheny Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. in non-conference action.
