Grove City blasts Behrend, 7-0

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior forward Hannah Yang (Davis, Calif./Davis) recorded a hat trick and junior forward Emily Hurley (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) scored a pair of goals Tuesday afternoon to help lead the Grove City College women's soccer team to a 7-0 victory over visiting Penn State Behrend at College Field.

Senior Emily Ostlund (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) and junior Morgan Osterhouse (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) also scored goals for the Wolverines, who have won their last two matches by an aggregate 11-1 score.

Yang opened the scoring just 94 seconds into the match when she headed in a corner kick from Ostlund. Ostlund doubled the lead at the 6:09 mark with an unassisted goal from approximately 30 yards out.

Grove City (4-3) boosted the lead to 3-0 at the 10:57 mark when Hurley scored her first goal of the afternoon. Freshman Michelle Stevens (Phoenixville, Pa./Great Valley) assisted the goal.

The Wolverines closed the first-half scoring at 34:21 when Osterhouse registered her first goal of 2010. Sophomore Grace Rieman (Arlington, Va./Homeschooled) assisted Osterhouse's score.

Yang scored a pair of unassisted goals in the first four minutes of the second half. The first goal came at 45:52 and she then completed her hat trick at 48:11. Hurley capped the scoring with an unassisted goal at 63:36.

Grove City out-shot Behrend (4-4) 31-5 and had a 3-0 edge in corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word) made one save to preserve her third shutout of the season.

Hurley leads the team with six goals. Ostlund and Yang both have five goals while Stevens leads the team with four assists.

The Wolverines will visit Mount Union Thursday night at 7 p.m. in non-conference action.
