Grove City wins 4th straight over Westminster

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team earned a 5-0 victory over visiting Westminster Wednesday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at College Field. Grove City has now won four consecutive matches against Westminster.

The Wolverines (6-5, 1-1 PAC) took the lead just 42 seconds into the match when junior midfielder Cara Colley (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) scored her first goal of 2010. Sophomore Grace Rieman (Arlington, Va./Homeschooled) assisted Colley's goal.

Senior Emily Ostlund (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins) pushed the lead to 2-0 at 17:00 with an unassisted goal. The lead grew to 3-0 at 38:55 when freshman Shannon Bishop (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) recorded her second goal of the season. Rieman assisted Bishop's score.

Grove City sealed the win with a pair of goals in the final 11 minutes. Bishop scored at 79:04 after receiving an assist from junior Arielle Goyzueta (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen).

Freshman Ashley Sealander (Madison, Va./Madison County) closed the scoring at 80:48 by scoring on a penalty kick. It is Sealander's first collegiate goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word) recorded her fifth shutout of the season by stopping four shots. Grove City out-shot Westminster (5-5-1, 1-1 PAC) 18-7. The Wolverines also had an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.

The 5-0 win is the largest margin of victory for Grove City over Westminster. The teams first met in 1992.

Grove City will host Geneva Friday at 2 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend.
