Grove City blanks Chatham

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Four Grove City players posted multi-goal efforts Thursday afternoon to help the Wolverines earn a 14-0 victory over visiting Chatham in Presidents' Athletic Conference women's soccer action at College Field.

Junior Arielle Goyzueta (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen) recorded a hat trick for the Wolverines (11-6, 5-2 PAC). Junior Morgan Osterhouse (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key), sophomore Grace Rieman (Arlington, Va./Homeschooled) and senior Hannah Yang (Davis, Calif./Davis) all scored twice.

Freshman Sarah Cessar (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock), senior Laura Novosel (New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington), freshman Ashley Sealander (Madison, Va./Madison County), junior Bekah Van Eerden (Stokesville, N.C./Adler Prep) and freshman Sam Weber (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) all scored once.

Sophomore Julie Apple (Catonsville, Md./Homeschooled) tallied a career-high three assists. Freshman Lydia Caissy (Dedham, Mass./Dedham), senior Emily Ostlund (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins), Rieman, Sealander, Van Eerden and Weber all had one assist each.

Weber opened the scoring at 8:05. Osterhouse, Rieman and Yang all scored twice in the first half. Sealander scored at 39:33 to close the first-half scoring. Goyzueta scored twice in the second half and Novosel recorded the final goal. Grove City led 11-0 at halftime.

Freshman Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word) earned the shutout victory. She played 63 minutes, 39 seconds in goal. Van Eerden played the final 26:21 in goal.

Grove City owned a 51-1 edge in shots and an 11-2 edge in corner kicks. The 14 goals are a program record, surpassing the 11 scored against Pitt-Bradford in 1996.

The Wolverines close the regular season Saturday against Thomas More at 2:30 p.m.
