JCU nips Grove City

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's soccer team fell to 2-2 Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 setback against homestanding John Carroll in a non-conference match at Don Shula Stadium.

Grove City forged a 1-1 tie at the 72:35 mark when junior Sarah Peachey (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) scored the game-tying goal after an assist from freshman Megan Johnson (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs).

However, John Carroll (2-2) broke the tie at 84:42 when Kristen Profeta scored her first goal of the season.

John Carroll took a 1-0 lead in the first half when Kaylin Akerly scored at 16:07.

The Blue Streaks outshot Grove City 17-8. Each team had four corner kicks. In goal, sophomore Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word) stopped six shots for Grove City.

Grove City will host Allegheny Wednesday at 4:30 in non-conference action.
