W&J nips Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting Washington & Jefferson (11-3, 5-0 PAC) Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at College Field.

Grove City (5-6-2, 3-2) forged a 1-1 tie at 23:33 when sophomore defender Lydia Caissy (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) scored her first goal of the season.

W&J reclaimed the lead at the 72:53 mark when Dawn Murphy scored her second goal of the match. Murphy scored 59 seconds into the match to give the Presidents an early lead.

Grove City owned a 12-10 edge in shots. W&J doubled up Grove City in corner kicks, 4-2. Sophomore goalkeeper Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word Academy) stopped three shots for the Wolverines. W&J goalkeeper Stephanie Saussol made seven saves.

Grove City will visit Chatham Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in conference action.
