Grove City blanks Geneva

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team improved to 5-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Friday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over visiting Geneva at College Field.

Grove City (7-6-2 overall) grabbed the lead early when senior Emily Hurley (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) scored her fourth goal of the season. Sophomore Michelle Stevens (Phoenixville, Pa./Great Valley) assisted Hurley's goal.

Grove City owned a 29-6 edge in shots, along with a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. In goal, sophomore Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word) stopped four shots.

The victory marks Grove City's first one-goal victory since a 1-0 triumph over Geneva October 10, 2009. Each of the Wolverines' 25 victories since then had been by two goals or more.

Grove City will visit Susquehanna Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in non-conference action in Selinsgrove, Pa.
