Wolverines earn OT win
SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team earned its second one-goal victory in less than 24 hours Saturday afternoon as the visiting Wolverines earned a 2-1 overtime victory at Susquehanna University in non-conference action.
Junior Grace Rieman (Arlington, Va./Homeschooled) scored the game-winner for Grove City 36 seconds into the first overtime period. Sophomore Chelsea Tarolli (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) assisted Rieman's goal.
Grove City (8-6-2 overall) broke a scoreless tie at 51:14 when sophomore defender Jessica Heck (Canton, Mich./Plymouth) scored her first collegiate goal on a free kick. Susquehanna (7-6-2) tied the match on Kate Wiley's goal at 84:41.
The Wolverines outshot Susquehanna 19-4 for the match, including a 10-2 edge in the second half. Grove City also held an 8-1 corner kick advantage.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word) stopped one shot in the first half. Freshman Kristi Lathrop (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) earned the win after playing the second half and overtime.
Rieman leads Grove City with six goals this year, including three game-winners. Friday, Grove City earned a 1-0 win over Geneva. Prior to Friday, each of Grove City's last 25 wins had been by two goals or more.
The win is the Wolverines' first overtime victory since a 3-2 OT win at La Roche September 16, 2006.
Grove City returns to Presidents' Athletic Conference action Wednesday against visiting Saint Vincent at 1 p.m.
