Grove City gives Lamie 200th win

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Sophomore forward Shannon Bishop (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) scored twice in the final seven minutes of regulation to help lift the Grove City College women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over visiting Saint Vincent Wednesday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at College Field.

The victory is the 200th as head coach for Grove City head coach Melissa Lamie, who is the first conference women's soccer coach to reach the 200-win plateau. She now has a 200-141-26 record in 19 seasons at Grove City.

Bishop broke a 1-1 tie by scoring at 82:57 after receiving an assist from sophomore Chelsea Tarolli (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus). Less than two minutes later, the Wolverines boosted the lead to 3-1 when Bishop scored at 84:44. Junior Grace Rieman (Arlington, Va./Homeschooled) assisted Bishop's second goal.

Grove City (9-6-2, 6-2 PAC) took a 1-0 lead at 20:15 on a goal from sophomore Sam Weber (Freeport, Pa./Freeport). Freshman Sarah Flenniken (Hudson, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) assisted Weber's goal.

Saint Vincent (7-9-1, 3-5 PAC) tied the match at 60:17 on Tenesha Corrales' unassisted goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word) stopped three shots for Grove City, which has won four in a row and six of its last seven matches. The Wolverines owned a 19-6 edge in shots and a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Rieman leads the team with six goals and Weber has five scores. Rieman and Flenniken both have a team-high three assists.

Eight days ago, Grove City earned the 200th win in program history with a 9-1 decision over Chatham. The Wolverines are now 203-151-27 all-time in 20 seasons of intercollegiate play.

Grove City concludes the regular season Saturday at conference rival Westminster. The match begins at 2:30 p.m.
