Thomas More tops Grove City
CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 2 seed Thomas More Tuesday afternoon in the semifinal round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament at Bank of Kentucky Field. Thomas More will advance to Saturday's championship match.
The Saints (11-4-1) took a 1-0 lead at 12:04 when Lauren Wietmarschen scored off an assist from Sam Work. Thomas More doubled the lead at 80:03 on a goal by Emily Sanker.
Thomas More outshot No. 3 Grove City (10-7-2) 20-9. TMC had five corner kicks and Grove City had three. In goal, sophomore Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word) stopped eight shots.
Grove City will await a possible berth in next week's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Tournament.
