Grove City earns 1-1 draw at No. 12 ONU
ADA, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's soccer team opened the 2012 season Friday afternoon by earning a 1-1 double-overtime draw at No. 12 Ohio Northern in non-conference action.
Grove City (0-0-1) forged a 1-1 draw at the 62:42 mark when junior forward Sam Weber (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) scored her first goal of the season. Ohio Northern led 1-0 at halftime, taking the lead on Kristina Klusek's goal at 39:02.
Ohio Northern owned a 13-11 edge in shots, including 4-2 in the two overtime periods. Grove City held a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks. In goal, sophomore Kristi Lathrop (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) stopped five shots to preserve the tie.
Ohio Northern went 19-3-2 last season. Weber led Grove City with seven goals last year.
Grove City will visit Heidelberg Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in non-conference action.
