UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's soccer team improved to 3-0-1 overall Saturday afternoon by pulling out a 2-1 double-overtime win over host John Carroll at Don Shula Stadium.

Junior forward Sam Weber (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) broke a 1-1 tie at 102:51 to give Grove City its second overtime victory of the season. Senior midfielder Grace Rieman (Arlington, Va./Homeschooled) and freshman Kristin Thomas (Ellicott City, Md./Chapelgate Christian) assisted Weber's game-winner.

After a scoreless first half, John Carroll (1-3) took a 1-0 lead at 57:58 on a goal by Kaylin Akerly. Grove City rallied to tie the match at 83:46, however, when junior forward Shannon Bishop (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) scored her first goal of the season. Weber assisted Bishop's goal.

Each team had 15 shots in the match. Grove City had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper Kristi Lathrop (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) recorded four saves to secure the win.

The Wolverines are off to their best start since the 2007 team won its first four matches. Grove City hosts Allegheny Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in non-conference action.
